Slips and Falls, according to the National Safety Council are the Number One reason for visits to the Emergency Room. Knocking your knee, a bruising a rib, straining a wrist or shoulder, or ending up with a face plant aren't good ways to finish this icy winter season! If you know of someone over the age of 65, it can even be worse. Preventing injuries can be your best way to cope with winter months!
There is a product that a good friend of mine at told me about last season that I would like to share with you. So I stopped in and talked with Shawn Sizonen at Professional Supply and purchased a pair of Yaktrax Pro and have been very grateful ever since.
These are very comfortable, durable, affordable, and simple to use. They are very light-weight and provide excellent traction when walking on ice and packed snow. They've definitely been an asset to me during home inspections!
They use small steel coils (no spikes) to grip the ice and can be used for walking, jogging, ice fishing, snow shoveling, and any other outdoor activities where you need a grip under your feet. They are attached to a rubber like material that easily stretches around your shoe or boot in seconds.
Two different versions are available. There is a Yaktrax Walker that is a basic version that is meant for every day use. The Yaktrax Pro has an additional Velcro strap that tightly secures them to your shoe or boot for more active use.
They come in 4 different sizes that will fit men and women's shoes. These are available for purchase at Professional Supply. They are located across the street from Miesfelds Market at 4828 Professional Drive in Sheboygan. Retail prices range from $20.00 to $30.00 depending on the version you choose and the size you need.
